Topic - Bullet and Ammunition Control instead of the fruitless pursuit of Gun Control. Maintain the current laws regarding guns but also pass laws that require a background check for people who by bullets and ammunition. Since "the right to bear arms" doesn't seem to mention bullets or ammunition that would eliminate one of the big arguments that the NRA has. The Feds could add a tax on these sales and the money could go towards gun safety and education or a Victims of Gun Violence Fund.
There is no such thing as an ex-felon. Convicted felons are relegated to second class citizens status and often become cash cows for the prison industrial complex. To help curb the violence in poor communities, restore communities, and help close the income inequality gap allow felons to work. Employers background checks should be restricted to 7 years. With the exception of felonies that are 1st degree or Aggravated (i.e. murder and rape).
Require hospitals to offer complete health care to women. Make it mandatory for a hospital to offer abortion care on demand in order to be able to legally operate. End the cutting off of women from lifesaving health services through clinic shutdowns by murderous religious extremists. Stop the unnecessary deaths of women.
Schedule I drugs are those classified as having no medicinal benefit. Currently, marijuana is a schedule I drug, which means using it is a felony, Federally. Since it has proven that it DOES have medicinal uses, it should be reclassified so that it is a misdemeanor, federally, so that it can be used in those states that have legalized it without fear of federal prosecution.
A better job needs to be done on recruiting and educating police. It seems that the police have no concern about the rights of others. I'm 68 years old and have experienced this sadistic and barbaric treatment 1st hand. I guess if I had just one wish it would be helmet cams on all on-duty officers and it would be their responsibility to make sure that all equipment was working at all times.
I am an ex-con an I know many other people who have made mistakes an have sincerely reformed themselves. All we want to do is be a good citizen and work a job and raise a family, but we have a serious problem with finding work. Also I feel the war on drugs could be effective if people have the option of working honestly instead of selling drugs.
Require all airlines to allow enough space in each seat so one can move ones legs to prevent blood clots. Have enough space so one can reclines one's seat a little without putting the seat back in the passenger behind you. Have 4 bathrooms available to passengers in coach. In other words, have congress pass a passenger bill of rights.
Treat all guns like all automobiles….require insurance…. for all guns, all the time. The gun insurance could be done by private insurance, like autos or homes… Parallel to auto insurance, different autos have different values, different guns have different values. An old, single shot, gun owned by an old person, with no issues (legal, mental, etc.), is cheap insurance. An old person with issues & a new, 45 round mag., gun, open caring it into Wal-Mart is expensive insurance. You get the idea
pass comprehensive immigration reform as outlined in the Senate bill. That is already on file. While this process is worked out. Have an immediate law allowing for 1 year work permits and ability to apply for drivers license to all on documented in this country who meet the criteria under the previous Senate bill. Set a timeline of 6 months for the comprehensive immigration bill to be worked out with a fair and well-defined pathway to citizenship a so that the undocumented may purchase Insurance
