Support the Congressional Progressive Caucus' budget bill. The budget is the single most important issue for the nation because it covers many issues. Despite the negative feelings associated by many with progressives, we can win with this because all the polls show the vast majority of Americans (including Republicans!) support practically everything in this bill. This bill just needs to be publicized.
Establish a national severance tax for all petroleum products exported overseas. Use the revenue along with that of NERA to pay down the national deficit & expand Social Security, then to lower nationwide individual taxes and refurbish public education to properly equip the next generation with the skill sets required to meet future economic requirements;e.g., restoring the "High" in public high school education to bring it up to a two year non-specialized college/technical level.
Re - introduce and pass the employee free choice act ( EFCA ). This will make it easier for the labor movement to organize, which has been proven over history to be the best way to battle income inequality in the country. What the labor movement is lacking right now is density due to very weak and unenforced labor laws.
Bolster the income of working-class America by increasing the minimum wage and sharply expanding the Earned Income Tax Credit. Doing so will benefit everyone, as increased consumption multiplies business activity. A major increase in taxes on the income and wealth of the one percent would pay for this, plus pay for increased infrastructure investment including education.
The Fair Standards In Manufacturing Act. An Act to make all manufactured goods sold in the United States subject to American labor laws and environmental regulations regardless of nation of origin. This act would serve to level the playing field for American manufacturers with foreign manufacturers. It would disallow access to the American marketplace for any manufactured good that uses child labor,or slave wage labor or made by violating our Clean Air and Water standards.
STOP giving the rich, big business and multinational corporations a free ride on the backs of the poor and the middle class. Get rid of the stupid Tax Cuts they were given under Bush and end the multibillion dollar subsidies to Big OIL, Big Pharma, Banks and Wall Street, etc., make them pay their Fair Share and invest in the new and emerging clean green Technologies
