Our healthcare system is labeled wrongly. It is an illness care system. Payment by procedure does not value prevention. Which is the one thing which could maintain health. Educate existing and new medical personnel (Dr. nurse etc) and students to focus on wellness instead of health crisis. Change payment systems (federal and private insurance) to reflect the value of HEALTH not illness.
Federal Funding for the study for a cure for the rare disease of NMO. Doctors are "flying by the seat of their pants" on this one. Basically they treat it with Chemo therapy periodically to kill the bad cells when they return which in my family is about every 9 months. This is not the answer for this very painful disease which paralyzed my family member and while their have been some gains in use of arms, the patient still cannot walk and it has been three years.
A card, much like a credit card in that it is linked to a bank account. This card would offer rewards and the reward would be Universal Health Care, either using the system they use now for air miles, cash back, etc., or perhaps a self imposed tax on purchases using this card. A set percentage of any transaction would be taxed at such a percentage as related to the level of care. Personally I would pay 5 cents for every dollar if I knew that I would have universal care. Card also has med info.
Require that pregnancy be legal only if the woman gives her explicit and uncoerced consent to the use of her body by the fetus, embryo or fertilized egg. Since already-born private parties are so often forbidden to use the bodies of others without explicit and uncoerced consent from those other individuals (sexual activity and medical procedures being two prime examples), why should women and underage girls be denied the same protection where the unborn are concerned?
Set private and public (Medicare, Medicaid, ACA) healthcare rates by service performed (what is done) rather than insurance source (who pays). Allow medically trained personnel (not administrators) to define basic care, and allow consumers to purchase additional procedures depending on ability to pay.
Consider all the deaths by disease asa Homeland Security problem. Three trillion for our recent wars which have only created more terorism which should be considered a disease? Terrorists are mentally ill, but so are people who go after them for vengeance. How many lives would have been saved if we invested that kind of money at the NIH? Our leaders do not seem to really care about our people. Maybe the Supreme Court should interpret the Constitution according to its preamble & we the people!
SUPERVISED INJECTION FACILITIES (SIFs) - SIFs are legally sanctioned and medically supervised facilities where injecting drug users are able to inject pre-obtained drugs in a hygienic environment. They do not lead to an increase in crime or youth drug use in the surrounding area. SIFs reduce HIV, Hepatitis C, as well as overdose deaths & link users to detox, rehabilitation, housing and job training. They're cost-effective and they save lives! Please support.
Use EXISTING state funds (Medicare funds, for ex) as seed capital to finance and run healthcare infrastructure: clinics, hospitals, labs x-rays, and MRI, facilities etc, in addition to bulk buys of drugs. This would cut med expenses in half, with no sacrifice of quality. Let people buy into this system the way they now buy insurance - more funding for this TRUE non-profit model. States (the people) now own our healthcare!
Deregulate health care by allowing those with a college degree to have autonomous health care by means of software, and allow self prescribing with a safety net. Clinics could have subscriber services that have a doctor monitoring in case they need expert intervention. It would be a limited license to practice medicine on yourself.
