Eliminate lifetime pensions for members of Congress and the Senate. Most of them go on to big paying jobs on K Street, or in the private sector. They don't need government pensions.

Get rid of Congressional pensions. Congress is trying to attach to the spending bill a law that allows companies to cut off current retirees benefits. Force congress to vote on such a proposal on its own merits not hiding it in a spending bill. If you believe in it, the public should be able to see your vote. Spending bills should be about government spending not helping greedy corporations nickel and dime retirees.

All Politicians should have to pay into Social Security Medicare, and all of the other self-funded "entitlements" (as they call them) they force the public to pay into. No more free expensive pensions paid for by taxpayers. Politicians should have to fund their own 401K/IRA/latest Government Scam, just like the rest of us.

No more retirement for congress just because they worked a few years (with pay) for their country. Their retirement should be based on the number of years contributed just like it is for everyone in the private sector. If they are only there one or two terms--no retirement at all. Ditto with health insurance. When they are finished in congress-they have to obtain their own health insurance! Better yet, have them pay into social security and medicare like everyone else.

American politicians should have the same plans for health care, social security, medicare, pensions, etc. as non-politicians. That would level the playing field and prevent the politicians from making rules and regulations that penalize others and reward themselves.

How about no more pensions for any elected officials. You all put towards social security and have your own 401k like every other American. And if you lose your job you get into the lunch line like the rest of the common folk. Why should I have to pay for someone's 100% pension when they lose their job. And on top of that, pay for someone to make laws and rules for me and my personal choices.

Require all elected representatives who serve in congress to give up their govt. pensions and put that money into Social Security. If we do that Congress will find a way to make it work.

What about the representatives that serve in congress for a long time and then retire without ever working in industry? Why not just eliminate the congressional pension for those that leave congress to work in industries that they once regulated and vice versa? That would at least discourage the infamous revolving door without punishing faithful representatives.
