Recognize the need for paradigm change in education - the need to replace "student progress based on time" with "student progress based on learning", which requires personalized learning and competency-based learning and assessment. Create government incentives and supports, like those described in the book, "Reinventing Schools," to help school systems to transform to the learner-centered paradigm.

Schools should teach collaborative discussion skills. Discussion in our schools is too often conflict averse. We don't learn to challenge each other or how to be open to being challenged. This cripples effective collaboration.

Implement a sustainability requirement within the academic agendas of every public elementary school, middle school and high school. It's time to catch up.

Ban ALL religion. It is a mental illness born of brainwashing. ALL the "god's" were man-made. Promote scientific evidence in schools, and remove any trace of religious brainwashing.

Eliminate exorbitant standardized testing that gathers much data with no benefit to students or teachers. The AFT estimates that including administration, SBAC and PARCC cost $400-800 per student!

education is out of date and over rated , most of our schooling has nothing to do with the real world of today and most anything of desire to be learned can be learned on line , demand of tax dollars for education that is of nothing of the future and training for jobs skills that there are no jobs for is a waste of tax dollars , on the job training is of more common sense

Establish a free, universal (ie open to all income brackets - no means testing), Government-run education program for all US citizens and residents of the US from early age childhood education (eg jumpstart), to third level doctoral studies. To include all forms of vocational education. To include cost of lining support while learning. Anyone who wants to learn is encouraged to do so.

Government should help colleges find part-time jobs for students who would otherwise be unable to attend college due to the high cost now for tuitions. Too many students are forced to borrow money, which puts them in deep debt after graduation, and are often unable to make payments because they cannot find work.

Make it law that all US teacher and student school testing must be produced in the United States by a US company. Currently Pearson out of London owns the US school testing.
