Care for the homeless, and address the causes of homelessness. Stop criminalizing homelessness, retrain law enforcement to ensure they assist the homeless, and provide proper care for mental patients. Veterans make up a disproportionate percentage of the homeless population -- we must also fully fund hospital care for veterans, house homeless veterans through the VA, and provide returning veterans with a transition period for debriefing, restoration, and job training before they are thrust back in society.

As a Vet, the hardest thing I experienced, was leaving the service and being dropped back into civilian life, a real sense of abandonment. The Military spends tons of money and quite a bit of time turning regular guys into soldiers and sailors ect.., why not either extend their service time by a month or 2 and train them to be a civilian, work on transferable job skills, assess them psychologically, set them up with the support system to streamline their process, work with employers

One of the interesting things about teaching abroad, and working with students from abroad is that I get to hear feedback about America, as well as ideas about how to solve certain problems we have: Almost everyone I work with has many good things to say about America, but there are several things that almost nobody understands: 1) the American obsession with guns 2) Why Americans have such an issue with good nationalized healthcare 3) Why there are so many homeless wandering the streets In addition, I found it interesting to hear that in China, major white collar crimes are punishable by death. Wonder what effect that might have on the "Wall Street crowd" that seems to operate with such impunity
