Require all Congressional and Presidential candidates to take a test of cultural competence--(meaning, awareness of one's own cultural background; baggage; and level of commitment to respecting, and supporting people from non-dominant cultures. Eliminate tax returns and filing by changing the tax laws and enforcing a 10% accross the board tax for everyone, to be collected by the employer. This would include all Corporations income. If a working person is making less than poverty level, no taxes are to be paid. NO tax returns or deductions. No evasive tax laws. Everyone pays the same pure and simple. Corporations that have their bank accounts out of Country are still required to pay the 10%.
Where I live big industry discharges millions of pounds of toxins into the air. The inside of homes and cars have weird dust and grit in them. Please regulate companies being allowed to discharge millions of pounds of toxic waste particles into the air and make then use scrubbers and equipment to clean up their manufacturing process.
This is more of a comment on the idea of basic housing for the homeless. In the state of TN we have homeless shelters. There, the homeless have their needs met for food, clothing, and a warm place to stay, It would be great if every homeless person in this country could have a private shelter, but there is no way this could be paid for. We need to keep trying to find a way to help educate and find jobs for the homeless, so that they can get off the streets and have a meaningful life!
Mandate sustainability by requiring transformation of energy from oil economy to sustainable energy economy including solar, wind and free energy. And transfer from conventional agriculture practices to green agriculture--no GMOs, no pesticides nor herbicides--which uses permaculture & biodynamic techniques.
GMO crops promised higher yields and claimed required less toxic pesticide spraying. Of which neither are true. In fact, GMO seeds stop the plants ability to obtain minerals and other nutrients from the soils its planted in. Therefore, rendering the food derived from those crops worthless in much needed nutrients to sustain human and animal lives. Stop GMO crops now and return to true natural seeds immediately in order to feed our growing population!
